Summer on Minnesota’s North Shore
There’s something unforgettable about driving along Minnesota’s
North Shore in the middle of summer. Highway 61 winds beside Lake
Superior while waterfalls rush through pine forests just minutes away
from small cafés, local art galleries, and scenic overlooks.
Stops like Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse, and Grand Marais
each bring their own charm, but the real magic of the North Shore is
the atmosphere itself. Cool lake air drifts through open car windows
while the shoreline glows under the evening sun. It’s the kind of place
where even a simple cup of coffee overlooking the water feels special.
Park Point Beach, Duluth, MN
Duluth may be known for its shipping harbor and rugged shoreline,
but Park Point Beach offers an entirely different side of the city.
Stretching along one of the world’s longest freshwater sandbars, the
beach feels more coastal than Midwestern during the height of
summer.
Families gather for afternoon picnics while cyclists cruise along the
shoreline and massive ships slowly enter the harbor nearby. As the
sun begins to set, the beach transforms into one of Minnesota’s most
peaceful summer escapes, with soft golden light reflecting across Lake
Superior.
